Morning Sickness Cures

Morning Sickness Cures

Morning sickness is an unavoidable part and parcel of pregnancy. It may start as early as 4- 6 weeks of being pregnant and may subside by itself within a month or two. However some women may experience, these symptoms of vomiting and nausea during the first six months off and on.

Experts are divided over what causes morning sickness. However most do agree, that hormonal and other changes taking place in the body during pregnancy cause this unfortunate side effect which has to be tolerated, more often than not. We will not discuss what causes morning sickness in this article, but try and find some natural herbal solutions which are safe and effective.

The following natural remedies and herbal solutions may not work for everyone. However, it may be worthwhile to try a few of these remedies to check, what works best for you. Patients suffering from other health complications may need to consult a doctor before trying these remedies, so do take care. Use discretion, common sense and doctor's advice in all suspect cases.

Raw grapes are rich in oxalic, recemic, malic and tartaric acid and ozotised matters. The presence of these acids makes them taste sour and tart. Pickled raw grapes in vinegar with salt and pepper taken on an empty stomach in the morning are a very useful remedy for morning sickness, nausea and vomiting.

Tender fruit of guava (without pips) taken with butter milk in the morning will help the stomach stabilize and prevent vomiting. This is an effective remedy for morning sickness.

Try taking 200 ml of fresh orange juice with 3-4 grams of pepper and a pinch of salt added in it first thing in the morning. This concoction will also help in preventing morning sickness.

Sour pomegranate juice (10 ml) mixed with equal amounts of honey taken in the morning and once during the day is also an effective cure for this problem. Do note that the 'sour' is more effective than the 'sweet' version of the fruit.

Another time tested remedy is fresh lemonade prepared with 10 ml of fresh lime juice and 3-4 teaspoons of sugar mixed with a pinch of salt in cold water. Enjoy the refreshing drink in the morning to control vomiting and nausea.

Homeopathy can be quite effective in controlling nausea and vomiting. It is considered safe by practitioners and can be effective depending upon your symptoms. Try alternating Ipecac 30CH with Nux Vomica 30CH every 2 hours for 3-4 days to find relief. If you find this is working, continue for 7-10 days and keep it handy for S O S usage. Try looking for a trained Homeopath in your area and discuss the problem with him/her. You may be surprised with the effectiveness of the remedies.

There are other remedies suggested by 'experts' which include fresh ginger tea, sucking on ginger candies, avoiding strong smells, avoiding extremes in temperature and reducing stress levels.

It may be noted that most remedies are geared towards stabilizing the stomach and trying to mitigate the symptoms of vomiting, nausea and dizziness ( in some cases). There is really no fully effective cure. The body will fix itself in 5-6 weeks and symptoms and sickness will decrease and vanish by themselves. These remedies will just help in keeping things going without too much bother.
